Abuja concert: Lagos state police arraign Naira Marley in court
The Lagos state police command today August 6, arraigned singer, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley, before the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Oshodi, for flouting the presidential ban on interstate travels during the lockdown period.
Recall that in June this year, Naira Marley during the COVID-19 lockdown, flew to Abuja, the nation’s capital for a drive-through concert that took place at the Jabi Lake Mall. The concert caused a lot of controversy after videos from it showed guests flouting all COVID-19 protocols. Asides sealing the mall up, the Federal government shut down the operations of the airline that flew the singer and his crew to Abuja for the concert.
Naira Marley reported himself to the police command this morning following an invitation and he was then taken to court.
In April, Naira Marley also had a run in with the Lagos state government after he attended the birthday party of actress Funke Akindele’s husband at their home in Amen Estate. He was arraigned in court alongside a former governorship candidate in the state, Babatunde Gbadamosi. The state government dropped the charges against them after they apologized.
