Unlike Trump, Buhari showed true statesmanship when he lost elections – APC
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to the insurrection at US Capitol on Wednesday January 6, triggered by President Donald Trump’s refusal to concede in the US presidential election.
In a statement released by John Akpanudoedehe, secretary of APC’s caretaker and extra-ordinary convention planning committee, the party stated that the latest twist of events in the United States are “condemnable” and further compared Buhari to Trump.
According to the APC, President Muhammadu Buhari contested and lost elections a couple of times and followed the process through to the Supreme Court on all accounts.
The statement read;
“The events of the past 72 hours in the U.S. are, to say the least, condemnable. Over time, elections in the U.S. had been used as a touchstone for elections in other democracies.
“President Muhammadu Buhari contested and lost elections a couple of times and followed the process through to the Supreme Court on all accounts. This is an outstanding credential of a true democrat.”
